Good Fight Martial Arts

“I have Fought the Good Fight, I have Finished the Race,
I have Kept the Faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7

Welcome to Good Fight Martial Arts!  We are a Christian Martial Arts club. If you choose to join our group, you
are in for a great experience.  Martial Arts is a fun, exciting, and safe way to improve physical condition,
relieve stress, and learn self- defense.

American Open Style Karate covers a vast amount of material including kicks, punches, blocks, sweeps,
forms/ katas, weapon training, and self-defense.  Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in
sparring and weapons seminars, tournaments, demonstrations, and other related activities.

Read the following information carefully.  The next pages will give important information regarding class
policies and procedures.  All students (and parents if applicable) are expected to be familiar with this
information by the end of the first month of training.

Registration:
Prospective students will complete a New Student Profile and a Liability Release Form.  There is a one time
enrollment fee of $15.00.  The enrollment fee and a minimum of one quarters’ fees are due at the time the
student(s) begin the first class.  New students should wear loose clothing such as shorts of a modest length or
jogging pants. You can enroll for one or two classes per week.  Students pay quarterly for lessons which vary
slightly between schools.  Our Brooksville school is based on a calendar quarter while the Dade City school
follows the Pasco County school schedule.

Attendance:
Attendance at karate is critical for advancement.  Students should arrive on time to all classes.  It is
recommended that students arrive early and check in. quietly prepare for class, and begin stretching in the
back of the room to warm up. The warming up time is critical in preventing muscle injuries. When prior classes
are dismissed, students may take their places in line and continue stretching until instructions begin.  Each belt
level requires a minimum number of classes to qualify for testing.  Refer to the “Testing” section for details.

There will be other training opportunities that will count as class attendance such as tournaments, guest
lectures and demonstrations, sparring and weapons seminars.  These opportunities will be announced as they
are scheduled.  Four consecutive misses without consulting the instructor will result in being dropped from the
class with the possibility of being replaced by a student on the waiting list.

Tardy:
Excessive tardiness will result in additional exercises and affect test grade scores for attitude and attendance.

Equipment:
All uniforms and equipment should be purchased  through Good Fight Martial Arts. Equipment needed
includes a Gi/uniform, sparring gear and as a student advances they will be trained on various weapons. All
equipment orders must be paid for in advance and checks should be made payable to Rick Barker or GFMA.
